Bill Coates
Owner
Bill Coates began working in the Forest Industry in 1978 for Star Contracting as a Bulldozer Operator and worked his way through the various jobs becoming a Supervisor. After working for the Mars Industries Group of companies for 31 years, he bought Star Contracting from Larry Mackenzie in 2009.
Roc-Star Enterprises Ltd. began and the company diversified with many clients and projects such as hydroelectric projects.
Bill is happy working and plans to stay in the game until 80.

Trevor Coates
Operations Manager
After running a successful electrical company for several years, Trevor joined the family business to take on the role of Operations Manager. With a strong background in project management, safety compliance, and technical operations, Trevor brings a hands-on leadership style and deep industry knowledge to the team.
​
He is known for his strong work ethic and commitment to delivering results. Trevor oversees day-to-day operations, ensuring that projects run efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards of quality.

When he’s not managing the next big project, you’ll often find Trevor spending time with his family and exploring the outdoors.

Alison Mackenzie Hoy
Finance/Office Manager
Prior to joining her family in the Mars Group of Companies in 1994, Alison worked in banking and government at the Ministry of Forests.
During her 26 years managing at Mars/Roc-Star, Alison followed her Father and Grandfather joining the Board of Directors of the Truck Loggers Association (TLA) until 2005. In 2006, she returned to school for 10 years while working full time at Mars/Roc-Star and achieved her goal - Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA,CGA) in 2017. She holds a Bachelor's Degree with distinction in Business Administration (Major in Accounting).
